MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING SHIELDING (MRI):

A MRI cage or MRI shield is an enclosure formed by conducting material or by a mesh of such material. Such an enclosure blocks external static and non-static electric fields. Shielding is typically applied to enclosures to isolate electrical devices from the ‘outside world’, and to cables to isolate wires from the environment through which the cable runs. Electromagnetic shielding that blocks radio frequency electromagnetic radiation is also known as RF shielding.

Types Of Radio Frequency Shielding Manufactured by Frank Shields:

1. Frank Shields Modular Galvanized Double Layer Shielding on wooden Panels.

Frank shields modular double layer Galvanised panel shielding is the most recommended shielding by us, this GI/GI provides one of the best shielding performance in terms of radio frequency and magnetic shielding.

The panels are modified at site and installed, which will accommodate any minor siting problems that may face during installation. Our specially designed door and door frame can be installed at site with of flexibility of mounting in either way, outside open or inside open or life side hinge or right side hinge.

Further this type of shielding provide inherent 15-20 dB acoustic shielding, physical strength, long life for the shield since the layers of GI protects the shielding from environmental conditions. The second layer of GI also provides a second layer of RF shielding and has got the inherent property of low level magnetic shielding.

Installation

The floor is comprised of one layer of T& G chip board, second layer with shielding material and the third layer of protective T & G chip board. The floor, walls and ceiling uses the same kind of panels which are bolted together with 60mm GI strips at a short distances for getting better integrity & performance. The windows, doors, waveguides, filter panel etc. are mounted on the panels using dedicated method of installation and the panels are already designed to take the load. Additional acoustic shielding of the cage is achieved by adding one layer of Rockwool inside the wall and ceiling panels. The ceiling is anchored to the true ceiling using isolators and threaded rods.

2. Frank Shields Modular Copper- Galvanized Double Layer Shielding on wooden Panels.

Frank shields modular double layer Copper- Galvanized panel shielding uses copper shield layer in the inside of the shield room and a layer of GI on the external surface of the shield room. The copper provides the RF shielding, whereas the GI provides a second layer of RF shield in addition to the environmental protection, magnetic shielding property and physical strength.

Frank shields Modular copper – Aluminium shielding panel shielding uses one layer of copper as the inside shielding and the second layer of Aluminium shielding as the outer shield layer.

4. Frank Shields Copper shielding on wooden Frames.

The floor is comprised of one layer epoxy screed, on which the copper sheet is glued and soldered. A protective layer of T& G chip board is laid on the copper shield before the flooring is completed. The periphery of the room is installed with copper shielding 40 x 40 wood which is fastened to the floor. The ceiling and walls are made of  RF panels bolted to each other and to this strip on the floor. Additional reinforcement is made of the shield to install the windows, doors, waveguides, filter panel etc. Acoustic shielding of the cage is achieved by adding one layer of Rockwool inside the wall and ceiling panels. The ceiling is anchored to the true ceiling using isolators and threaded rods.
